From 2-3 June, London’s iconic Mayfair will throw a celebratory street party and communal, fashionable feast to toast the Queen’s incredible 70 year reign. For the first time in its history, North Audley Street will be closed to traffic and become a magical setting for The Mayfair Jubilee Party. Taking place over the late May and Platinum Jubilee bank holidays from 12pm-7pm each day, the once in a lifetime party will flow from Grosvenor Square all the way to Oxford Street transforming the neighbourhood into a foodie wonderland befitting of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

Celebrating the historic occasion in true Mayfair style, the theme for the street party is ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’, drawing inspiration from the fanciful aesthetic of Mary Poppins and of picture-perfect summer fêtes from years gone by. The nostalgic set-up will include a curated communal table for 300 people, where everyone is inv
ited to take a seat.

The 200ft banqueting table, curated by sisters Jemima and Alice Herbert, co-founders of Lay London, will see a kaleidoscope of wild flowers reminiscent of countryside hedgerows, charming herb gardens and scent-filled rose bushes. Flowers will include the celebrated ‘Queen Elizabeth rose’ and, drawing inspiration from the palaces of the British Royal Family, the table will be adorned with topiary trees manicured in different designs to add height and grandeur to this street party table like no other.

Revellers will be offered the pick of Mayfair to eat and drink from with Jubilee themed dishes to sample from some of London’s hottest dining spots and plenty of celebratory cocktails and tasty treats. The culinary celebration will include the launch of the ‘Jubilee’ cocktail at The Beaumont Hotel, afternoon tea and live entertainment at Mercato Mayfair and a pop-up stall by The Biltmore Hotel serving their signature Biltmore Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich.

Party-goers will also be offered the opportunity to have a unique art illustration created for them by fashion illustrator and young British talent, Anjelica Roselyn. Known for her bold and stylish figure depictions, Anjelica will be live sketching colourful illustrations throughout the event, creating 70 commemorative prints to celebrate each year of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

North Audley Street will be abundant with live entertainment and experience-led activities, from contemporary jazz trios to strolling acts. The family-friendly event will also play host to craft tents and art-themed face painting.

Spectacle street floristry, festoon lights and specially-designed bunting will adorn the streets and an impressive floral arch will mark the entrance to this momentous event.

Debbie Lee, Interim Executive Director – London Estate: “We are beyond excited to deliver this event in our neighbourhood, which promises to showcase the immensity of what Mayfair has to offer, both to its own community and visitors from all over the world. After two years of hardship, we’re ready to celebrate the best of the summer, coming together as one to honour the long reign of our remarkable monarch.”

Jemima and Alice Herbert, Lay London say: “We are thrilled to be the curators of the Jubilee street party for Mayfair. Our vision for North Audley Street has been born from our love of the whimsical, with quintessentially English, nostalgic details designed to delight. With our theme of ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’, party-goers will be transported to a place of childhood magic.”

The Mayfair Jubilee Party will kick off Mayfair’s summer of celebrations which also include Wimbledon in the Gardens from 27th June-10th July and Summer in the Square from 21st – 31st July.
