The year 2020 will be a landmark one for the Nick Alexander Memorial Trust (NAMT). Not only will it mark five years since the terror attack at the Bataclan Theatre in Paris where Nick lost his life, but February would also have seen Nick celebrate his 40th birthday.  Nick’s passion for live music and its ability to bring people together is central to everything NAMT does, so to honour his birthday year in style the trust is delighted to launch 40for40, a series of fundraising events aiming to raise £40,000 for music projects in disadvantaged communities in 2020.

Kicking off the 40for40 fundraising we are truly delighted to announce that NAMT patron ambassador and Nick’s friend, folk-punk troubadour Frank Turner & special guests will be joining us at Colchester Arts Centre on 26th January for a very special intimate solo acoustic show.

Frank’s formidable reputation as a crowd-pleaser has seen him lift the roof off NAMT’s annual fundraiser, A Peaceful Noise, so we can’t wait for him to bring his show to the hometown venue where Nick began his career in the music industry hosting popular club nights.  With eight albums under his belt and a devoted fanbase, Frank is one of the UK’s best advocates for the power of live music and its ability to unite us, so his appearance is guaranteed to be legendary. Don’t miss out!

Commenting on the launch of 40for40, Nick Alexander Memorial Trust founder Zoe Alexander said: “40for40 is a really great opportunity for us to spread the word about what we do at NAMT and to celebrate Nick’s positive legacy in his big birthday year by raising as much as we can for life-changing music projects across the UK. Colchester Arts Centre is a fantastic venue and was a big part of Nick’s life so to have Frank there to kick things off is going to be really special”

Commenting on his appearance in Colchester, Frank Turner said: “I’m really excited to be coming back to Colchester for a show – it’s been more than 12 years! And very happy to that it’s a collaboration with the great Nick Alexander Memorial Trust. Nick was a great friend and a true music lover, and the Trust does great work, so it’ll be a wonderful night all in.”

Tickets cost £20.00 and go on sale on Tuesday 10th December at 10.30am. Tickets will be available from the Colchester Arts Centre: https://www.colchesterartscentre.com/events/gigs/Frank-Turner-Acoustic-NAMT-Show-/
