Neuro-disability charity British Home is launching its fundraising campaign and rallying for local support ahead of National Neuro-Disabilities Day on Tuesday, 6 June 2023. With a goal to raise £75,000, British Home hopes new funding will increase its rehabilitative services provided to people who live with neuro-disability.

The Streatham-based charity is calling on local business support to meet the ever-growing demand in costs for additional activities and services for its residents. As part of its fundraising activities, British Home is organising a “Culture & Pub Crawl” in Streatham on Sunday June 11th to help meet its financial goal and to build awareness of its position as a Centre of Excellence for neuro-disability care.

To become a corporate sponsor, businesses are encouraged to contact British Home: (https://www.britishhome.org.uk/get-involved/contact-us). Local business partners can gain official sponsorship status for as little as £500/year.

To enrol in the Culture & Pub Crawl, where a £20 donation is suggested, people should sign up here: https://www.meetup.com/british-home-streatham-culture-pub-crawl-2023/events/293709641.

Neuro-Disability Day aims to raise awareness of the one in six people in the UK affected by a neurological condition or brain injury. Around 12.5 million people live with neurological conditions in England, with more than half a million hospital admissions in the UK each year. The day was created in 2021.

Established in 1892, British Home is one of the UK’s oldest charities and provides residential care, therapy, support and hope for people with neuro-disability, typically coming from injuries to the brain or nervous system sustained from accidents, strokes and other acquired conditions.

Jon Smalldon, Head of Communications and Fundraising at British Home said: “At British Home, we provide not just stability to those in our care, but also improve the quality of their lives. All contributions to our fundraiser will go towards our neuro-disability therapy programmes, and help continue the great work we do to give hope to our residents and their families.”
