The Merton Macmillan Committee has started Christmas preparations early this year due to the new coronavirus restrictions and have moved one of their flagship fundraising events, the Christmas Fair, online.  In previous years the committee ran their annual Christmas Fair at Sacred Heart Hall in Wimbledon and, last year alone, they raised over £11,000 to support the work of Macmillan Cancer Support in the local community.

This year the unique, quality gifts shoppers have come to expect from the fair can be found online at www.brilliantlittlebrands.com/mertonmacmillan. The products and services on sale range from clothing, to food & drink, accessories and presents for pets! 10% of all sales will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Merton Committee volunteers, led by Chair Zoe Penny says:

“We are delighted to be able to continue supporting Macmillan in this way as they continue to support people living with cancer in our local area. Brilliantlittlebrands.com is the brainchild of one of our committee members and is a great example of online innovation resulting from the pandemic.  The website showcases brands with a difference that offer quality, service and a commitment to socially responsible shopping.

“We hope to raise more than ever for Macmillan and the vital work they do for people living with cancer.  This year our people can shop at their leisure (as opposed to the usual one-day event) and share details of the online shop with their friends and families outside of the Merton area. So, please do visit our virtual store for all those special Christmas gifts this year!”

Leena Sirpal, Macmillan Fundraising Manager said:

“We are so grateful for the Merton Committee’s continued enthusiastic approach to fundraising for Macmillan. Their determination and creative ideas are much appreciated particularly at this time when, so many events are being cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. Fundraising events like this are needed now more than ever to enable Macmillan to support people living with cancer and address the unique challenges that having cancer during this pandemic bring.”
