When one of their own was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, the team at pan-European property company M Core didn’t just offer their support, they laced up their trainers and took to the streets of London.
On Friday, 60 employees from the multi-award-winning property collective completed a gruelling 26-mile marathon walk around the capital, raising funds for Sarcoma UK, the national charity dedicated to funding research into sarcoma, one of the UK’s least understood and most underfunded cancers. The team walked in Sarcoma UK T-shirts and carried the charity’s banners as they made their way through London, drawing attention to a disease that affects about 5,900 people in the UK every year.
The challenge was one of several fundraising events M Core has undertaken as part of its Charity of the Year partnership with Sarcoma UK, a partnership chosen by the team because the cause is deeply personal. One of their colleagues has recently been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma and is currently undergoing treatment.
The London walk followed Claudia Gasparro, Associate Director at LCP UK, part of M Core, completing a half-marathon in April, and Head of Ireland, David Nolan, taking on the London Marathon on 26 April. With other fundraising efforts throughout the year, the team has already raised more than £14,000 for the charity.
Ben Chislett, Group COO at LCP UK, part of M Core, said: “At the start of 2026, a member of our London team was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare and complex cancer that impacts thousands of individuals across the UK each year. In response, our team have come together with clear purpose, not only to support our colleague but also to drive meaningful fundraising and awareness for Sarcoma UK.
“Last Friday, both of our London offices collaborated to complete a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles. It was a significant team effort, underpinned by resilience, unity and a strong sense of shared responsibility. M Core are extremely proud of what the team has achieved, including raising over £14,000 in support of this important cause.
“This marks the start of a broader programme of activity throughout the year. We remain committed to making a tangible impact because, collectively, every effort, every initiative and every pound raised contributes to supporting those affected by sarcoma.”
To further support their fundraising, M Core recently hosted a ‘lunch and learn’ session with Sarcoma UK’s specialist support line nurses, giving employees the opportunity to understand more about the cancer and the work of the charity.
Sarcoma UK’s Partnerships and Events Manager, Greis Kula, said: “We are very grateful to everyone at M Core for their extraordinary commitment and generosity. To see 60 colleagues come together and walk a full marathon distance through London, on top of everything else the team has taken on this year, speaks volumes about the culture of a company that rallies around one of its own in the most difficult of circumstances. We know that behind this fundraising there is a personal story, and our thoughts are very much with their colleague and their family. What M Core are doing will make a real and tangible difference, the money they raise will help fund vital research into sarcoma, a cancer that is still too often misunderstood and underfunded. With the support of partners like M Core, we can change that. We are proud to have them alongside us.”
Sarcoma is a cancer of the connective tissues, including bone, muscle and fat, and accounts for about one per cent of all adult cancer diagnoses.
