Leading vet charity, PDSA, has opened the doors of its new Pet Hospital in Thamesmead. Previously located on Eynsham Drive, the Pet Hospital has relocated just a few streets away, to Abbey Place – where it will continue providing vital care and support to pets and their owners in the local community.

The original Thamesmead PDSA Pet Hospital is on a site which is due for significant redevelopment until 2030. Due to the scale of the building work that the site will face over the next few years, the move has provided a safer and more comfortable location for pet patients using PDSA, as well as their owners, and PDSA staff.
Senior Vet Surgeon at the Thamesmead PDSA Pet Hospital, Emily Bligh, said: “We’re happy to announce we have officially moved location. We’ve made decisions based on putting the safety and welfare of the pet patients we treat, their owners and our site staff, first. Being able to move just a few roads away means we’re still in the same location as before, we just have a newer site, equipped with brand new facilities.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to our new location and hugely appreciate the public support towards making this new site happen.”
PDSA Director General, Jan McLoughlin, said: “Our original site, the Thamesmead PDSA Pet Hospital, The Freda Powell Centre, was named after the generous family whose wonderful donation funded the building. Although circumstances mean we’ve had to relocate from that building, we’re forever grateful for the gift and look forward to being able to continue to provide a vital service to the Thamesmead community.”
Thamesmead PDSA Pet Hospital is one of over 40 PDSA Pet Hospitals across the UK. In 2025, the charity treated over 422,000 pets – approximately 274,000 dogs, 140,000 cats, and just over 8,700 other pets including rabbits.
