Film producer Jonathan Sothcott and his actress partner Janine Nerissa looked every inch the Hollywood couple as they stepped out at the ballet at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night.
The pair were in Town to attend a performance of Christopher Wheeldon’s acclaimed staging of Cinderella. Janine dazzled in a stunning floral print Karen Millen dress set off with a classic Barbour jacket, while Jonathan looked dapper in a striking three piece chalk stripe suit. Even at such a sophisticated venue, the loved up couple looked particularly glamorous, drawing admiring glances from the public as they happily posed for photographers before heading into the venue to enjoy the performance.
Janine, who has starred in films such as The Krays – Dead Man Walking and The Exorcism of Karen Walker, had originally trained as a ballerina with the English National Youth Ballet and had her heart set on a career on the stage, but her dreams were scuppered by a serious back injury in her teens. Nonetheless her passion for ballet remains and she said in a recent interview that her perfect date night would be a trip to the ballet.
Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella for the English National Ballet employs over 90 dancers. This inventive production of Cinderella combines magnificent sets and costumes, surprising theatrical tricks and lively choreography to delight, move and astound – all to the melodious tunes of Prokofiev’s sublime score, performed by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.
Christopher Wheeldon (OBE and Artistic Associate of the Royal Ballet) originally created Cinderella to great acclaim for Dutch National Ballet and San Francisco Ballet and now he and his collaborators have adapted it for the English National Ballet at the grand space of the Royal Albert Hall.
