LEO Academy Trust, a family of nine primary schools across Surrey and Sutton, has received two nominations for the prestigious National Schools Awards.

Now in their fourth year, the National School Awards recognise the achievements of the country’s leading lights in education. Selected from schools across the UK, LEO Academy Trust has been nominated in the categories of Multi Academy Trust of the Year and Resource Management of the Year.

The Multi Academy Trust of the Year award celebrates innovation and excellence in delivering positive outcomes for pupils. A nomination in this category recognises how LEO Academy Trust has been focused on raising learning outcomes for all its pupils; delivering an engaging and ambitious curriculum; providing outstanding training and development opportunities for staff; and supporting parents and carers by offering high-quality wraparound care.

LEO Academy Trust and its Chief Financial Officer, Shan Moylan, have also been nominated for School Resource Management of the Year in recognition of how her team has been able to maximise value out of existing school resources. One of the Trust’s major achievements has been its ability to provide each of its pupils across the Trust with their own Chromebook device, ensuring each student can develop technological skills from an early age and preparing them for a digital future.

The LEO team will be heading to the House of Lords for a ceremony to announce the winners in early December. The ceremony will bring together 250 school leaders and education trailblazers, for an evening celebrating achievements across the British education sector.

Shan Moylan, Chief Operating Officer at LEO Academy Trust, said:
“I am delighted to be shortlisted for these awards, and would like to thank my LEO Academy Trust colleagues at all levels for their hard work in giving the best opportunities to pupils, staff and the communities our schools serve. It’s such a joy to be a part of the difference LEO makes to local young learners’ lives.”
Phillip Hedger, CEO at LEO Academy Trust, said:
“We are thrilled to be nominated for these prestigious awards – whilst we are relentlessly focused on creating a positive learning experience for our pupils and a supportive working environment for our staff, it is heartening to receive national recognition that we are delivering this for our local community.
“I’d like to thank the staff, pupils, parents and carers that make LEO such a special family for their support, cooperation and generosity. I know that these nominations will provide even more inspiration to continue striving and encouraging our community to achieve its best.”
