London Charity puts the ‘word-le’ on the Street

Tower Hamlets based education charity, ‘The Switch’ has created a special version of the viral word puzzle, Wordle, for children and young people to do during their summer break.

A new wordle challenge will be published every Monday for four weeks from Monday 25 July. Each of the weekly words will link to The Switch’s work transforming the futures of children and young people in and around East London.

The Summer Holiday Wordle is just one of a series of activities the charity has organised to mark its 30th anniversary. Earlier this month The Switch held a special event to thank past and present corporate partners and schools for their commitment to transforming the futures of children and young people.

Director of The Switch, Helen Sanson said,
“London, and in particular Tower Hamlets, is an area of extremes. Extreme wealth and opportunity on one hand and extreme poverty and disadvantage on the other. The idea behind The Switch was to find a way of bringing the two extremes together to support schools to achieve more and inspire their young people to go further than they ever thought possible. The summer wordle reflects the work we do in our reading and literacy programmes and we hope it helps children – and adults – while away a little bit of time during the long summer holidays”.

The wordle is available for anyone to try and can be found at https://theswitchweekly.worble.net/

An early pioneer of corporate/charity partnerships, The Switch supports over 2,000 volunteers and more than 5,000 young people every year; enabling businesses to give back and schools to achieve more.

Established in 1992, The Switch charity was formerly known as Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership.
