LONDON LEADS THE WAY AS NEARLY 30% PUT DECORATIONS UP BEFORE DECEMBER

A survey of 2,000 UK adults has found that 29% of people from London choose to put their Christmas tree up before December, more than any other location in the country.

What’s more, nearly half (49%) spend up to a week planning their decorations, with the average spend per household topping £79, nearly triple that of the South West (£22.90) and double the North East (£40.80).

Over half (51%) of those surveyed admitted they have a colour scheme, with a further 73% saying they felt that decorating the home was a fun activity as opposed to a chore.

Interestingly, 31% of people said they decorate the home for themselves, compared with just 18% in the West Midlands and 19% in the South West, as a further 44% said they feel that the occasion has become too competitive.

But despite the apparent chill in the air, it’s not all bah humbug as HARIBO’s Marketing Manager, Jessica Hardcastle, explains.
She comments: “It’s really encouraging to see that the Christmas cheer is alive and well in London, however we still know that 39% of households will rely on one person from the household to do all of the decorating.

“That’s why HARIBO is on a mission to encourage people to use #DecoratingDay as the perfect excuse to have some fun. We want to see families wearing matching pyjamas, turning up the festive tunes and sharing some sweet treats while embracing the perfectly imperfect that comes with letting the children loose with the fairy lights and tinsel.

“Whatever day you choose to deck the halls, we want families to embrace the excitement that comes with doing it together!”

The UK’s leading sweet manufacturer will use its latest Christmas Campaign #DecoratingDay to encourage families throughout the UK to decorate the house and tree together this Christmas.

HARIBO thinks the countdown to Christmas is more fun when shared. As such, the brand will post examples of the perfectly imperfect scenes from content creators and fans across its social channels in the run up to the festive occasion.
