London’s newest waterside destination, Sea Lanes Canary Wharf, is set to officially open to the public on Friday 19th June. Offering a new way to swim, relax and reconnect with nature, the venue sits among the lush, biodiverse waterfront of Eden Dock following its transformation into an urban oasis in the heart of the capital.

The 50-metre, six-lane natural water pool is the first of its kind in the capital, floating within the clear dock water and offering year-round outdoor swimming in one of London’s most iconic locations.

Created by the team behind Sea LanesBrighton, the UK’s first National Open Water Swimming Centre, the new site is operated by South Downs Leisure and combines sport, wellbeing and community in a unique urban setting.

Designed for swimmers of all ages and abilities, the pool will cater for lane swimming, while also acting as a stepping stone between traditional pool swimming and open water. Swimmers can choose from flexible pay-as-you-swim sessions or membership options alongside a programme of training sessions, events and social swims.

Beyond the pool, the venue also features two saunas powered by 100% renewable energy, a community clubhouse hosting year-round events, and a curated food and drink offering.

Located within Eden Dock – where water quality is regularly tested against EU Bathing Water Standards and consistently rated “Excellent” – the site has been designed as a green, restorative oasis. Lush planting, striking geodesic domes and thoughtful landscaping create a space where visitors can escape the pace of the city while remaining right at its centre.

Joe McNulty, Director at Sea Lanes, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be opening Sea Lanes Canary Wharf this June. This is about so much more than swimming, it’s about creating a space where people can feel better, move more, and reconnect with nature and each other. Bringing open water swimming into central London in this way is something truly special, and we can’t wait to welcome people in.”

Stuart Fyfe, Managing Director, Retail, Leisure and Hospitality at CWG, said: “Canary Wharf is thrilled to welcome Sea Lanes as the next bold step in enhancing our blue and green spaces, adding to our district’s exceptional wellness offering. This unique leisure attraction will meaningfully improve access to nature and the waterside for Londoners and we can’t wait for our community to experience everything it has to offer. I am certain it will create an inclusive community hub for everyone from Olympic swimmers or to those looking or summer to chill in the summer sun.”

After taking a dip, visitors can explore Canary Wharf’s over 320 retailers, including 80 cafes, bars and restaurants including Barbarella, Roe and Nora, or take part in a huge range of activities and experiences such as The Cube, GoBoat, Electric Shuffle and Fairgame.
