GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (GWR), the global authority on record-breaking achievements, surprised singer-songwriter RAYE backstage at The O2, London, on Wednesday 20th May, with two official Guinness World Records certificates following her This Tour May Contain New Music performance.

The backstage presentation recognised RAYE’s record-breaking BRIT Awards success, which saw her make history with both the most BRIT Award nominations and the most BRIT Awards won in a single year.

• Most BRIT Award nominations in a single year; achieved with seven nominations in London, UK, on 24 January 2024.
• Most BRIT Awards won in a single year; achieved with six awards at the 2024 BRIT Awards, held at The O2, London, UK, on 2 March 2024.

RAYE made history ahead of the 44th BRIT Awards after securing a record-breaking seven nominations in a single year, spanning British Album of the Year (My 21st Century Blues), Song of the Year, British Artist of the Year, Best Pop Act, Best R&B Act and Best New Artist.

Weeks later, she cemented her place in BRIT Awards history by taking home a record six awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best R&B Act, Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year.

The double achievement marks one of the most successful single-year performances in BRIT Awards history and secures RAYE’s place as an official world record holder.

Emma Salt, Guinness World Records adjudicator, said:

“RAYE’s BRIT Awards success is an extraordinary moment in British music history. To hold both the record for the most BRIT Award nominations and the most BRIT Awards won in a single year is a remarkable achievement.

At Guinness World Records, we’re passionate about celebrating achievement and inspiring people everywhere to be part of record-breaking. We hope RAYE’s story encourages others to follow their own path and recognise that extraordinary things can come from embracing what makes you unique.

It feels especially fitting to surprise RAYE with these titles at The O2, where one of these milestones was achieved and where fans are continuing to celebrate her music tonight.”

Tonight’s presentation officially recognises RAYE’s record-breaking achievements and celebrates a landmark chapter in her career.

Guinness World Records is also set to open its first permanent entertainment venue at London’s The O2 in late 2026. The landmark venue will combine competitive socialising with the thrill of record-breaking, giving visitors the chance to walk away a record-holder.
