As the nation enters lockdown 3.0, Pizza Pilgrims is taking steps to bring a bit of pizza loving to London, revealing a new restaurant concept sure to excite the capital’s pizza fans. Slice by Pizza Pilgrims is where New York slice joint meets Naples pizzeria with London’s largest slices being served at 12″ on London’s iconic Southbank.

While lockdown restrictions are in place, the restaurant will see the offering available from the legendary Pizza Pilgrims Tuk Tuk, with slices available for hungry Londoner’s to grab and go on their daily walk, ahead of the official launch of the restaurant in the near future.

Inspired by their Pizza Pilgrimage when co-founders and brothers Thom and James Elliot took in the sights and slices of the US and Italy, Slice is their homage to Neapolitan pizza expertise and the Big Apple’s giant slices and buzzing pizza parlours.

Unique to this new concept, Slice serves Pizza Al Metro, with one metre long rectangular pizzas perfect for cutting super-sized slices from. The traditional pizza style is often found in pizzerias across Naples, family events or served up to Napoli FC fans ahead of game days. On South Bank, pizza fans can take their pick of classics such as Margherita, or opt for the Smashed Mamma’s Boy Meatballs slice, Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey and Mushroom & Truffle options.

When normality resumes, diners will be able to wash down their slices with Amalfi Lemon and Peach ice-tea slushies, made alcoholic for those who fancy it, or grab a tipple from the carefully curated Camden Town Brewery beer and Italian wine lists. A far cry from your regular restaurant, Slice will also house a Barcade, so guests can grab a slice and beer and have a few rounds on retro classics. From Pac Man to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Street Fighter to Tekken and beyond, those who hit the high scores will be rewarded in slices!

Following the restaurant’s official launch, the iconic Pizza Pilgrims Tuk Tuk will remain fired up outside Slice offering up pizza and Camden Hells on tap to go. The in-restaurant Deli is also perfect for grabbing Italian essentials and pizza accompaniments to enjoy back at home.

Pizza Pilgrims Co-Founder James Elliot says: “As the ultimate pizza fan boys, this year we challenged ourselves to think of new ways of showing our love to the dish. After launching our nationwide Pizza in the Post kits, and our written ode to pizza with the new book PIZZA, we’re excited to reveal another concept that will make pizza fans everywhere very excited. Slice is the great love story between New York and Naples pizzerias, and will be the perfect backdrop for Londoners to enjoy a slice, grab a cold beer and have a bit of fun with friends after what’s been a tough year for all. We can’t wait to launch the restaurant fully when Boris permits, but we couldn’t hold 12″ slices back from London when everyone needs a pick me up. ”

Slice by Pizza Pilgrims can be found at Southbank Centre, Unit 3 Festival Riverside Royal Festival Hall, London, SE1 8XX.
