As London approaches another week of warmer weather, customers using the Elizabeth line will now be able to rehydrate more often as 11 free-to-use drinking fountains have been installed at stations across the route.
The new drinking fountains are now available at Taplow, Burnham, Iver, Hanwell, West Ealing, Acton Main Line, Maryland, Seven Kings, Chadwell Heath, Gidea Park and Harold Wood. This means more than half of the 41 Elizabeth line stations, and the majority of stations west of Paddington and east of Stratford, have water fountains. Installation of water fountains at Custom House and Woolwich stations will take place later this summer.
Carrying water when using public transport is highly recommended, especially during the warmer months. The new drinking fountains will make it even easier for customers to fill their bottles up on their journey and stay cool when travelling on the Elizabeth line.
To help all customers find their nearest drinking fountain on the Elizabeth line, TfL has launched a brand-new map that is available here.
Trish Ashton, Director of Rail at Transport for London, said: “We know how important it is to stay hydrated and cool during the warmer weather on our network, and we are committed to providing easy access to free drinking water wherever we can.
“Here at TfL, sustainability is at the heart of all that we do, and these new water fountains will help reduce use of single-use plastic bottles, continuing to support our vision to be a strong, green heartbeat of London.”
