Battersea Power Station announces today “An Evening with Chanté Joseph” – an exclusive new wine tasting and literary experience hosted by one of the UK’s most influential writers and cultural commentators, Chanté Joseph.
Chanté is an award-winning writer best known for her viral British Vogue essay “Is Having a Boyfriend Embarrassing Now?”, which sparked global debate on modern relationships and contemporary womanhood.
Hosted as part of Battersea Power Station’s year-long campaign, A Station of Stories, which celebrates storytelling, creativity and literature during the UK’s National Year of Reading – this exclusive event is taking place on Friday 12th June during The Wine Circuit festival weekend, will explore feminist writers that have both inspired and influenced Joseph over the years including Love in Exile by Shon Faye, The Crane Wife by C.J. Hauser, Arrangements in Blue by Amy Key, and Strangers by Belle Burden.
Co-hosted with Sinéad Murdoch – expert sommelier famous for co-founding Tasca and being the co-director of female-led supper club, Suppher – guests will enjoy curated wine pairings inspired by the four books chosen by Chanté, with wine also provided by female-founded businesses.
Whilst guests enjoy food and wine at beautifully dressed dining tables in The Cinema in The Power Station’s Lounge Bar, Joseph will share personal stories, anecdotes and views she has on each of the books, as well as hosting an exclusive Q&A session at the end of the evening.
The event comes amid a major cultural resurgence in reading and literary communities, driven in part by the explosive growth of BookTok – TikTok’s global reading community with #BookTok accruing over 370 billion views globally, cementing reading culture as an increasingly influential force across fashion, lifestyle, entertainment and hospitality.
The exclusive ticketed event, An Evening with Chanté Joseph, will take place on Friday 12th June from 18:30–20:00. Tickets will be on sale from Wednesday 3rd June, and are priced at £40 per person plus booking fee. Tickets are available via: https://batterseapowerstation.co.uk/events/an-evening-with-chante-joseph/.
